Bill Schaudt:
My wife Jill and I are originally from Iowa. We moved to Sandpoint in the summer of 1977 after living for 4 years in Summit County in the Colorado Rockies. The Sandpoint area's abundant outdoor resources and mild four seasons are what originally lured us. Its people and their warm welcome are what hooked and landed us. It has been a fabulous environment for us to raise our son Andy. Between school, the wide variety of outdoor sports, and community activities we have led a busy and productive life in Bonner County. Andy received his Masters in Human Factors Psychology at the University of Idaho in Moscow (just 120 miles South of Sandpoint). He is now a researcher at Virginia Tech and is a board member of the National Transportation Safety Board in the bus and truck division.

An avid fisherman, I have extensive knowledge of Lake Pend Oreille (pronounced "pond-er-ay.") I have been an active member of the Lake Pend Oreille Idaho Club (LPOIC), a local non-profit organization dedicated to the enhancement of the fisheries and health of Lake Pend Oreille. I served on the board of directors for more than twenty years and served as President twice.  My twenty years experience in the marine business as sales manager of a local marina and owner of Pend Oreille Marine not only contribute to my familiarity with this region's most priceless gem, but has also provided me with the skills and contacts to make your move to our neck of the woods an enjoyable and calm passage.

I am no stranger to the ski slopes, either. I have been a skier for over thirty years. There is nothing quite like spending the winter months skiing Schweitzer Mountain or snowmobiling in the mountains and gazing down on your summer playground Lake Pend Oreille, and the rest of the year boating and fishing on the lake looking up at your awesome winter playground.

Whether you're buying or selling a home, property, or a business in North Idaho, my contacts, persistence, people skills, attention to detail, and positive approach are what you need to have in your corner for a successful search, negotiation, closing, and move.

Jim Watkins:

Jim has been a Sandpoint resident since 1982. Prior to joining Tomlinson Black Sandpoint he spent ten years as owner and operator of a downtown retail business. He and his wife Ruth, who is very active in local politics and environmental issues, were born and raised in Maryland, but moved their family to the Colorado front range in the early 70's to find a better environment. They originally relocated to Sandpoint because they felt a small town would be a better place to raise their children. This strategy apparently worked; his three children, who all graduated at the top of their respective classes at Sandpoint High School, have gone on to college at Swarthmore, Pa, Bates College, Me. and Hampshire College, Ma. Jim Watkins balances his time between listing and selling. He has been with our firm since 1991 and is very successful in both categories. A "Top Producer" in our MLS since '93 he was THE top producer in our firm in '96 & '97. In 2004 Jim was again THE top producer for Tomlinson Black Sandpoint and was #2 in all of Tomlinson Black. He is a past president of both the Lake Pend Oreille Idaho Club, a local fishery enhancement sportsman's group and the board of directors of the Clark Fork Pend Oreille Coalition, a tri-state water quality environmental group. An avid fisherman, Jim can often be found (when not working) catching and releasing the huge rainbow trout of Lake Pend Oreille on his boat "At Last". Jim has received numerous awards for his community service. Last year he is served as President of the board of Selkirk Association of Realtors & has chaired the Gov't affairs committee for SAR. He is on the Board of Directors of the Clark Fork Pend Oreille Conservancy, a local land trust involved in land conservation. Jim has also served as President of the Rock Creek Alliance, a regional citizens group concerned about the proposed silver mine upstream from our lake. He is often referred to in our office as "The Land Guy", because of his extensive experience with undeveloped acreage.
